    Job summary

    Guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Guelph Administrative Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, excellence and wellness, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Community Vision – to be the city that makes a difference.


    • Conduct research and planning reviews with respect to a wide variety of planning studies including Official Plans, the Zoning By-law, secondary plans and special studies.
    • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations including preparing graphics, charts and figures.
    • Provide support and assistance for internal and external public and stakeholder consultation including public meetings and workshops.
    • Collect and compile information from a variety of data sources including statistical analysis.
    • Create and maintain information databases (e.g. Excel spreadsheets).
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.


    • Post-secondary education (in process or completed) in urban planning or related program and experience conducting research and/or compiling data for analysis preferably in a planning environment.  Candidates with equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Knowledge of research methods and ability to compile and analyze original data
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint applications.
    • An ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of Ontario planning legislation and policy framework.
    • Valid G or G2 driver’s licence with a good driving record and a minimum of two years driving experience.

    Hours of work

    • 35 hours per week Monday to Friday from April to end of August


    $ 16.39- $20.52 per hour (2018 rate under review)
