Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, successful candidates will plan and deliver dynamic programs and activities for children of all abilities at City of Guelph Summer programs.

Position Overview

Lead a team of Inclusion Camp Counsellors to coordinate inclusion-focused program plans and implement programmed activities. Is an enthusiastic and engaging mentor for Inclusion Camp Counsellors. Acts as a resource to support staff, campers, and parents. Reports any accidents to Supervisors and completes all necessary forms. Develops a well unified team and ensures effective communication with and between staff, parents/guardians and campers. Is counted in ratio at camps throughout the day.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing and delivering fun and dynamic program activities for children of all ages and abilities.
  • Assisting with all aspects of programming including planning, set up/take down, running programs, active participation and evaluation. 
  • Working in a team to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
  • Providing group and/or individual support for campers with disabilities who need assistance integrating into recreation camps.
  • Working creatively and cooperatively to modify and adjust programming activities to ensure inclusive participation of all children.
  • Providing assistance with personal care and behavioural strategies as appropriate to support participation needs.
  • Taking appropriate action to deal with incidents/accidents and emergencies, providing timely communication with Supervisors.
  • Understanding the Summer Camp Guidelines and Procedures Manual and ensuring it is followed.
  • Attending all required staff training sessions.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Currently attending or have completed high school or post-secondary education, with an interest in gaining further experience in Child Development, Recreation or a Social Services field
  • Experience working in a summer day camp environment
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Previous experience with program planning, development and implementation
  • Adaptable, patient, and innovative approach to work
  • Able to work at various locations across the city
  • Valid CPR Level C and Standard First Aid (or willing to obtain upon hiring)
  • A satisfactory Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check is required at time of offer
  • Ability to respect and maintain participant confidentiality
  • Ability to work both independently and in a changing team environment


Hours of Work

  • Seasonal position, with training hours in June
  • Full-time hours starting Wednesday June 29 - September 4, 2026
  • Mon-Fri; between 8:15 a.m-5:15 p.m. (approx. 40-42 hours/week)


Pay/Salary

  • Inclusion Camp Team Leader: $21.42 per hour
