Position Overview

Crossing guards are provided only when schools are open. You don’t work when school is out, including weekends, PD days, and all holidays. Daily shifts are scheduled Monday to Friday between 7:45 to 9 a.m. and 2:45 to 4 p.m. on days when school is in.

 

Key duties and responsibilities

 

Between the months of September and June, ensure the safe crossing of pedestrians and students as they travel to and from school.


Self-motivated, personable and able to communicate effectively, you will ensure elementary students cross safely at designated school crossing locations in the city of Guelph. You are required to obey all established safety regulations and report and document any concerns. You will work either one or two shifts per day at school bell times from Monday to Friday in various weather and traffic conditions. Access to reliable transportation is required. Employment will be subject to providing a satisfactory vulnerable police record check.
