Position Overview

Join us as the Supervisor, Strategic Projects, where you will lead a talented team dedicated to enhancing project management, continuous improvement, innovation, and change management practices. This role provides strategic oversight, supports specialists navigating complex challenges, and fosters strong partnerships across the organization to advance corporate priorities.


Key duties and responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for the development and implementation of Project Management, Continuous Improvement, Innovation, Change Management frameworks and programs for the organization.
  • Providing management and leadership of specialist functions within the Strategic Programs portfolio.
  • Support program specialists in managing complex challenges related to their portfolios.
  • Track and research best practices related to Project Management, Continuous Improvement, Innovation, Change Management.
  • Relationship management including promoting and advocating for adoption of corporate resources across the organization, including with senior leadership and Council.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Business or a related discipline. Candidates with equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Considerable experience in project management and/or continuous improvement, supported by a PMP designation or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Highly developed critical thinking, research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Well-developed skills in data governance including collection and analysis.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiencies in MS Office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and delivering presentations).
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, networking, facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently in order to manage projects.
  • General knowledge of the legislative process, government decision-making processes.
  • Experience in change management and/or PROSCI certification is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in people leadership would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of project management software or Power BI would be an asset.
  • Working within a municipal environment or public sector is considered an asset.

 

Hours of work
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m. This position is eligible for hybrid and flexible work arrangement options (as per current corporate policy).
